Nigerian singer Spyro has accused music executive Ubi Franklin of deceitfully using Davido’s name to persuade him to perform at an event, promising a payment of $5,000, which Spyro claims he never received.
In a recent interview, Spyro recounted that Ubi Franklin approached him, stating that Davido wanted him to perform at a birthday party in Ghana and that a fee of $5,000 had been arranged. Spyro, who typically charges ₦20 million per performance, agreed to the reduced fee due to Davido’s involvement. However, after the performance, he alleges that Ubi Franklin withheld the payment and ignored subsequent attempts to resolve the issue.
In response, Ubi Franklin acknowledged retaining the $5,000 but justified his actions by claiming that Spyro owed him a 10% commission from a ₦105 million car deal he facilitated, amounting to ₦10.5 million. Franklin suggested that the withheld performance fee was a partial settlement of this alleged debt.
