Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly been banned from entering Manchester United’s dressing room following matches.
This decision comes after the club, now partially controlled by INEOS under Sir Jim Ratcliffe, terminated Ferguson’s ambassadorial role as part of a broader cost-cutting initiative.
The club has been undergoing significant financial restructuring, which includes laying off staff and reducing privileges for some long-standing members of the organization.
While Manchester United has stated that Ferguson’s exclusion from the dressing room is part of a new “collective understanding” rather than a formal ban, this ends a tradition that has been in place since the days of Sir Matt Busby.
Ferguson had been a fixture in the dressing room even after his retirement in 2013, maintaining a visible presence as a director and ambassador.
Ferguson will still retain his seat in the directors’ box at Old Trafford but is set to step down from his ambassadorial role by the end of the season.
