Socializing Accusations Lead to Horrific Acid Assault

Acid Violence: A Disturbing Case of Female Aggression

A 21-year-old hairdresser in Trinidad and Tobago is receiving treatment for chemical burns following an acid attack by two women who accused her of socializing with men they knew. The incident occurred on February 26, 2025, when the victim was lured to a location under the pretense of a hair appointment.

Upon arrival, she was confronted and had a corrosive substance thrown on her, resulting in severe injuries, including damage to her eyes and facial tissues. She was assisted by passersby and is currently hospitalized at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. The police are investigating the incident.

Acid attacks, also known as vitriolage, involve the deliberate throwing of corrosive substances onto individuals with the intent to disfigure, maim, or cause severe pain. These attacks can lead to permanent physical and psychological damage, including blindness and deep scarring. Globally, acid attacks are a serious concern, with victims often facing long-term medical and social challenges.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is actively investigating this case, urging anyone with information to come forward to ensure justice for the victim
