Investigation Intensifies: Police Search Muan Airport and Jeju Air After Fatal Accident

In the wake of the tragic crash of Jeju Air Flight 7C2216, which resulted in the deaths of 179 individuals, South Korean authorities have intensified their investigation by conducting raids on Jeju Air’s offices and Muan International Airport.

The Boeing 737-800, en route from Bangkok to Muan, attempted an emergency landing but tragically crashed, leading to the nation’s deadliest aviation disaster.

As part of the ongoing investigation, South Korean police have banned Jeju Air’s CEO, Kim E-bae, from leaving the country.

The investigation is focusing on potential professional negligence, examining the communication between the flight crew and air traffic controllers during the final moments of the flight, adherence to regulations by Jeju Air, and the design and safety features of Muan International Airport.

The investigation is also examining the plane’s operation, maintenance, and the airport facilities. The cockpit voice recorder’s data has been converted, and further inspection of Boeing 737-800 aircraft is ordered.

The South Korean government has initiated a thorough inspection of the country’s airline operations, including Boeing jets, and the investigation involves both South Korean and U.S. authorities. The partially damaged flight-data recorder will be examined in the U.S.
