Nigerian football legend Jay-Jay Okocha has lauded Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman following his recognition as the 2024 African Player of the Year.
Okocha described Lookman as “an epitome of good sportsmanship and a perfect gentleman,” emphasizing that the award reflects his excellence in various aspects of the game.
Okocha stated, “For Ademola Lookman to be awarded African Best Player of the Year, it simply means he has been examined on all these criteria and passed.”
Lookman, who plays for Atalanta in Italy, had a remarkable year, notably scoring a hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen and contributing significantly to Nigeria’s journey to the Africa Cup of Nations final.
His achievements have earned him the distinction of being the seventh Nigerian to receive the African Player of the Year award, following in the footsteps of players like Nwankwo Kanu and Emmanuel Amunike.
