Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has emphasized the team’s determination to secure a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, urging his teammates to give their all in the upcoming qualifiers.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s absence from the 2022 World Cup, Osimhen described it as a “heartbreaking disappointment” and stressed the importance of not repeating that experience. He stated, “We suffered a big disappointment in 2022, and we simply can’t let it happen again to us, the country, and our generation.”
The Super Eagles currently trail Group C leaders Rwanda by four points. They are set to face Rwanda in Kigali on March 21, followed by a home match against Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on March 25.
Osimhen, who missed earlier qualifiers due to injury, is now back in action and optimistic about the team’s prospects under new head coach Eric Chelle. He expressed confidence that the team can correct past mistakes and is looking forward to the challenge ahead.
