Bandits attacked a vehicle carrying the mother and sister of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas on Thursday along the Wukari-Kente road in Wukari Local Government Area.
His mother, Jummai Kefas, was unharmed, but his sister, Atsi, sustained a gunshot wound.
She was treated in Wukari before being airlifted to Abuja for further medical care. The incident has sparked a security response, though the state’s officials initially downplayed the attack, with some calling reports of the governor’s family members being involved “fake news”.
