Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of suppressing opposition voices in Nigeria.
His statement follows remarks by APC spokesperson Felix Morka, who criticized former presidential candidate Peter Obi’s New Year message, suggesting that Obi had “crossed the line” and would face consequences.
Atiku described Morka’s comments as “inflammatory” and indicative of an authoritarian shift in governance. He expressed concern that such rhetoric, along with the detention of dissenting voices like Mahdi Shehu, signals a move towards suppressing opposition rights.
Atiku called on the APC to apologize to Nigerians and to Peter Obi, emphasizing that such language undermines democratic principles and has no place in a free society.
