Russia Admits Smuggling Bashar al-Assad Out of Syria: What It Means for Global Politics
Russia has confirmed that it smuggled ousted Syrian President Bashar al-Assad out of Syria.
Assad and his family are now in Moscow, where they have been granted asylum on humanitarian grounds.
This move came after rebels seized Damascus and toppled Assad’s regime. Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergei Ryabkov, stated that Assad was transported to Moscow “in the safest way possible”.
