President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Shamsedeen Babatunde Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation, effective March 7, 2025. This date coincides with the retirement of the incumbent, Oluwatoyin Madehin.
Ogunjimi, 57, was initially identified as Madehin’s successor in December 2024. His appointment followed a comprehensive selection process that included a written assessment, an ICT proficiency test, and oral interviews, reflecting the administration’s dedication to transparency and meritocracy in public service roles.
An alumnus of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Ogunjimi holds a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (1990) and a Master’s in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos. He is also a fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
President Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Ogunjimi, urging him to perform his duties with integrity, professionalism, and dedication to national service.
