President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, including Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The legislators arrived in two coaster buses around 3 p.m., with Obasa joining them separately a few minutes later.
The meeting aims to address the leadership crisis that recently affected the Assembly. Obasa was impeached on January 13, 2025, leading to Meranda’s election as Speaker. However, following interventions from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Governing Advisory Council (GAC), Obasa was reinstated on March 3, 2025.
To facilitate the meeting, President Tinubu arranged a chartered flight to transport the lawmakers to Abuja, underscoring the administration’s commitment to resolving the Assembly’s internal conflicts.
The discussions at Aso Rock are expected to play a crucial role in stabilizing the legislative environment in Lagos State, ensuring effective governance and legislative processes.
