Tinubu Reveals Near Quit from 2023 Presidential Race

2023 Presidential Race: Tinubu Almost Exits Campaign

During a special Iftar at the Presidential Villa on March 29, 2025, President Bola Tinubu revealed that he nearly withdrew from the 2023 presidential race due to significant challenges and doubts.

He recounted an early morning encounter with a close relative who, at 3:30 a.m., requested N50,000 for food, attributing the currency scarcity to Tinubu’s political ambitions. This conversation led Tinubu to contemplate ending his campaign.

Despite these challenges, Tinubu credited former Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari and other supporters for encouraging him to remain in the race. Masari, serving as the Chairman of the North West Group, reportedly told Tinubu, “Don’t look back,” reinforcing his commitment to the campaign.
