Gunmen recently kidnapped Justice Joy Unwana, a High Court judge, along with her driver, in Oron Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.
The incident occurred along the Uyo-Okobo-Oron road as she was returning from a court sitting.
Tragically, her police orderly was killed during the attack.
The Akwa Ibom Police Command has launched an investigation, with the Commissioner of Police vowing to use all available resources to ensure the judge’s safe return and to bring the culprits to justice.
The Oron branch of the Nigerian Bar Association plans to meet with state security agencies to address the situation.
