On February 22, 2025, a tragic incident occurred in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Nigeria, where a Hummer bus caught fire, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to ten others.
The bus, carrying 44 passengers—25 adults and 19 children—was traveling from Zaki Local Government Area in Bauchi State to Rabadi village in Gwaram.
The fire reportedly started when a mattress tied to the back of the vehicle made contact with the exhaust system, leading to the blaze near Government Girls Unity Secondary School in Gwaram. The injured passengers were transported to Gwaram Cottage Hospital for treatment.
