A tragic accident occurred on Monday, February 17, 2025, in the Felele area of Lokoja, Kogi State, resulting in the deaths of six students from the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) and the driver of their shuttle bus.
The incident took place around 2:30 pm when an articulated vehicle, reportedly carrying wood and jerrycans of palm oil, lost control and collided with the university’s shuttle bus, which was transporting students to the institution’s permanent site.
Eyewitnesses recounted that the trailer’s driver lost control, leading to the devastating collision that crushed the shuttle bus. Emergency responders, including officials from the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), promptly arrived at the scene to assist victims trapped beneath the vehicle.
The university community and local residents have been deeply affected by this tragic event, mourning the untimely loss of the students and the driver.
