Tragic Death of Former Sheffield United Defender George Baldock

George Baldock Found Dead: Investigation Underway

George Baldock, a 31-year-old former Sheffield United defender who had recently been playing for Panathinaikos in Greece, was tragically found dead in the swimming pool of his home in Glyfada, a suburb of Athens.

His wife, who was in England at the time, had been unable to reach him and asked the homeowner to check on him, leading to the discovery of his body.

Emergency services attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the cause of death is ongoing, though early reports suggest no signs of injury, and the results of an autopsy are awaited.

The football community, including his former clubs and teammates, has expressed shock and sadness over his untimely passing​.
