On January 14, 2025, Police Inspector Lawal Ibrahim, attached to the Kwali Division, was found deceased in a room at Palasa Guest Inn in Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja. He had checked into the hotel with Maryam Abba, a woman he reportedly met on social media three months prior.
According to reports, after engaging in sexual activity, Inspector Ibrahim began experiencing erratic breathing and became unresponsive. Ms. Abba attempted to revive him by sprinkling water on him, but when he did not respond, she alerted the hotel manager, Danlami Palasa.
The manager contacted the Gwagwalada police division, and officers arrived to find the inspector lifeless. His body was transported to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Items recovered from the hotel room included watermelon, a substance suspected to be an aphrodisiac, a phone charger, and the officer’s identity card. Ms. Abba has been detained, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding Inspector Ibrahim’s death.
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
