Tragic Electrocution of Welder in Lagos: An Investigation

24-Year-Old Welder Dies in Construction Accident in Lagos

A 24-year-old welder named Adedeji was tragically electrocuted while working on a construction site on Nnamdi Azikiwe Street, Lagos Island, on the evening of October 1, 2024.

Adedeji, who was hired by his brother to work on a two-storey building under renovation, came into contact with a live electrical source on the second floor.

The force of the electrocution was so powerful that his body was flung to the first floor, causing severe burns to his legs.

The incident was reported to the Adeniji Adele Police Division, and upon investigation, Adedeji’s body was evacuated to Yaba General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

The police have taken photographs of the scene, and an autopsy is expected to follow as part of the ongoing investigation
