A tragic incident occurred in Mu’azu village, Jigawa State, where a 26-year-old man named Nura Mas’ud was arrested for allegedly setting his 60-year-old grandmother, Zuwaira Muhammad, on fire.
The event, which took place on October 8, 2024, was reportedly sparked by ongoing disputes between them.
According to the police, Mas’ud doused his grandmother in petrol and set her ablaze, leading to severe burns. She was rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries.
The suspect has since been apprehended by the Jigawa State Police Command and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
Reports suggest that the suspect has a history of mental health issues, which may have played a role in the crime.
