Breaking News: Zamfara Under Siege as Bandits Abduct Passengers and Burn Vehicle

On January 1, 2025, bandits abducted passengers and set their vehicle ablaze in Kwanar Jalab village, Zungeru Ward, Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The incident occurred around 8 a.m. as the vehicle was en route from Gusau to Shinkafi. All passengers, including the driver—estimated to be around 10 individuals—were kidnapped before the assailants torched the vehicle.

The perpetrators are suspected to be linked to the notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji. Local authorities are actively working to secure the safe release of the abducted individuals.

This incident underscores the persistent security challenges in Zamfara State, where banditry and abductions have been rampant.

The state has witnessed numerous attacks on travelers, with bandits often targeting vehicles on highways, abducting passengers, and destroying property.
