A 45-year-old man, identified as Alani Rasaq, tragically collapsed and died in front of a fuel station opposite the Fire Brigade office in Ifo, Ogun State, on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
The manager of the fuel station, Segun Afolabi, reported the incident to the Ifo police division, stating that around 3 p.m., Rasaq collapsed on the premises.
Police officers promptly arrived at the scene and transported him to the General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed his death. His body has since been moved to the Ifo mortuary.
The Ogun State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and mentioned that an autopsy is currently underway to determine the cause of death.
This unfortunate event has raised concerns among local residents, prompting discussions about the need for increased availability of emergency medical services in public areas to respond promptly to such incidents.
