Anambra Grieves: Gunmen Take Life of 84-Year-Old Leader

On March 10, 2025, gunmen assassinated Chief Chijioke Okafor, an 84-year-old prominent community leader in Anambra State, Nigeria.

The incident occurred in his residence in Umudioka, a village in the Orumba North Local Government Area. Chief Okafor was known for his significant contributions to local development and his influential role in community affairs.

The assailants, who arrived on motorcycles, forcefully entered Chief Okafor’s home and shot him multiple times. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and local authorities have launched an investigation to apprehend those responsible.

Community members are in mourning, recalling Chief Okafor’s dedication to fostering unity and progress within Umudioka.
