Gunmen Attack: Akwa Ibom Polytechnic Mourns Final Year Student

A tragic incident occurred at Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic in Ikot Osurua, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, where a final-year student was fatally shot by suspected armed robbers. The victim, identified as Saviour, was a student in the Electrical Electronics Department.

The incident took place around 8:00 pm on Saturday near his former residence in Ikot Uboh. Reports indicate that Saviour was attacked while attempting to protect his cellphone from the assailants. As he tried to raise an alarm, the robbers opened fire, resulting in his untimely death.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has confirmed the incident and assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators. ASP Timfon John, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated, “The perpetrators will be apprehended and made to face the full weight of the law. It is the determination of CP Waheed Ayilara to rid Akwa Ibom State of criminal elements. And this is not negotiable.”
