
Ondo Crash Horror: Details Emerge on 28 Fatalities in Vehicle Blaze
On Saturday evening, a tragic accident occurred at Mile 49, Onipetesi area of Ore along the Ore-Lagos Expressway in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, resulting in the deaths of at least 28 passengers. The incident involved a head-on collision between two vehicles, leading to a fire that burned the victims beyond recognition.
According to Dr. Samuel Ibitoye, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ondo State, the accident was caused by excessive speeding and traffic violations. Out of the 30 passengers involved, 28 lost their lives, while two survivors with serious injuries were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Dr. Ibitoye emphasized the importance of patience and adherence to traffic regulations among drivers to prevent such tragedies. He also urged passengers to play an active role in road safety by cautioning drivers who engage in reckless driving and reporting them to FRSC personnel when necessary.
The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the General Hospital in Ore. This incident underscores the critical need for strict adherence to traffic rules and the collective responsibility of both drivers and passengers in ensuring road safety.
