Troops Capture Cult Leader Planning Attacks in Plateau

Arrest of Cult Leader: Threat to Political Figures in Plateau

Troops from the 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN have apprehended Fidelis Adamu, the alleged leader of the cult group “Jungle Boys,” in Plateau State. Adamu was reportedly orchestrating attacks on prominent individuals, including political figures and community leaders, in retaliation against the state’s ban on illegal mining. He was arrested on March 20, 2025, at Angwan Gainyeh in the Sakon-Gyel area of Jos South Local Government Area.

The arrest followed intelligence reports indicating that the “Jungle Boys” were planning violent actions due to the enforcement of the mining prohibition. The Plateau State Government had earlier suspended all mining activities, citing security and environmental concerns.

In a related operation on March 23, 2025, troops responded to criminal activities near the Youth Centre in the Sabon Layi area of Mangu Local Government Area. They engaged and overwhelmed the suspects, leading to the arrest of 29-year-old Nashak Wilson, who was found with an AK-47 rifle loaded with two rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition. Further searches resulted in the recovery of 30 rustled cows, which have since been returned to their rightful owner.
