Troops Capture Kidnappers and Seize Weapons in Plateau

Plateau Operation: Arrest of Kidnappers and Arms Recovery

​On March 15, 2025, troops from the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division and Operation Safe Haven (OpSH) conducted a successful operation in Bassa Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State, leading to the arrest of two notorious kidnappers and the recovery of dangerous weapons. ​

Details of the Operation:

• Arrests: The operation resulted in the apprehension of Bashir Mohammed and Ismail Mohammad, both identified as notorious kidnappers operating in the region.
• Location: The raid targeted a kidnappers’ hideout at Katume High Grounds in Bassa LGA, following credible intelligence that the area was frequently used to hold victims during ransom negotiations. ​
• Recovered Items: During the operation, troops recovered one AK-47 rifle and one AK-47 magazine from the suspects.

The arrested individuals are currently in custody and are reportedly providing valuable information to assist in further operations aimed at apprehending their accomplices and uncovering additional weapons caches.
