Nigerian troops operating under Operation FANSAN YANMA neutralized notorious bandit leader Kachallah Hassan Nabamamu—also known as Hassan “Dantawaye”—while he was attempting to escape and disarm a soldier during his transport to Gusau in Zamfara State.
Nabamamu, who had terrorized communities in Tsafe and Mada for years, was captured after a fierce gun battle in Mada on February 27, 2025. When being moved early on February 28, he tried to overpower a soldier, which led the troops to immediately eliminate him. This decisive action is expected to deal a significant blow to the bandit networks operating in Zamfara and surrounding areas.
