Nigerian troops have intensified efforts to combat illegal oil bunkering in the Niger Delta, recently deactivating 56 illicit refining sites and recovering approximately 872,070 liters of stolen crude oil.
The operation also involved the destruction of equipment used in these activities, including cooking ovens, storage tanks, and boats, with the estimated value of the intercepted crude exceeding ₦921 million.
In addition to dismantling these illegal operations, troops arrested 51 individuals linked to oil theft and seized various tools and vehicles used in the activities.
The military emphasized its commitment to protecting national resources and addressing security challenges in the region.
