U.S. National Security Adviser Mike Waltz has cautioned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky against directing criticisms toward President Donald Trump, urging a shift toward constructive negotiations. This advisory comes amidst escalating tensions between Washington and Kyiv over proposed agreements and diplomatic engagements.

The friction intensified following a canceled press conference between President Zelensky and U.S. Special Envoy Keith Kellogg in Kyiv, an event that was transformed into a mere photo opportunity at Washington’s behest. This development underscores the growing diplomatic strain between the two nations.

Concurrently, President Trump has publicly criticized President Zelensky, labeling him a “dictator without elections” and urging him to promptly engage in peace negotiations with Russia. These remarks have been met with approval from Russian officials, including Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chair of Russia’s Security Council, who commended Trump’s understanding of Moscow’s stance in the ongoing conflict.

The U.S. administration has also proposed a deal involving Ukraine’s rare-earth mineral resources, estimated to be worth $500 billion, as part of the support framework. However, President Zelensky has expressed reservations, citing insufficient security guarantees associated with the proposal.
