In 2024, Nasarawa State reported 8,190 tuberculosis (TB) cases, resulting in 35 deaths. This marks an increase from 2023, which saw 7,275 cases and 18% co-infection with HIV.
To combat TB, the state has expanded awareness campaigns and increased treatment centers to 386 across all 13 local government areas. Additionally, 15 GeneXpert sites with 20 machines are operational in 10 local government areas, providing rapid TB test results within two hours.
Residents experiencing symptoms like a persistent cough lasting two weeks or more, low-grade fever, unexplained weight loss, chest pain, or night sweats are advised to visit the nearest health facility for evaluation.
