The University of Lagos (UNILAG) recently held its 55th Convocation Ceremony, where the Department of Mass Communication distinguished itself by producing 18 first-class graduates, all of whom are female.
This achievement is part of a broader trend at UNILAG, where female students have demonstrated exceptional academic performance. In the 2023/2024 academic session, a total of 76 female students graduated with first-class honors, compared to 30 male students.
One notable graduate is Chelsea Jegede, who earned a first-class degree in Mass Communication with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.70. During her time at UNILAG, she held various leadership positions, received multiple nominations and awards, and was featured by several media platforms.
The Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, expressed delight at these accomplishments, commending the graduates for their hard work, dedication, and resilience. She highlighted that the university has recorded groundbreaking achievements in innovation, infrastructure development, and academic excellence.
