Iran Considers Interim Nuclear Deal to Prevent War

​Iran is considering proposing an interim nuclear agreement in upcoming negotiations with the United States, aiming to de-escalate tensions and prevent potential military conflict.

The proposed interim deal would involve Iran suspending certain uranium enrichment activities, diluting its stockpile of 60% enriched uranium, and granting increased access to United Nations inspectors. In return, Iran seeks partial relief from economic sanctions.

These discussions are scheduled to take place in Oman, with U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi leading their respective delegations. Both parties view the talks as a critical opportunity to assess each other’s commitment to reaching a diplomatic solution.

President Donald Trump has emphasized the urgency of the negotiations, stating that while diplomacy is preferred, all options remain on the table should Iran not comply.

Iran, on its part, has expressed skepticism due to the U.S.’s prior withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear agreement but indicates a willingness to give the talks “a genuine chance.” ​
