U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson has opposed calls to release an ethics report on Rep. Matt Gaetz, who was nominated by President-elect Donald Trump as attorney general.
The report concerns allegations of sexual misconduct and obstruction, but since Gaetz resigned from Congress, Johnson argued that the House Ethics Committee no longer has jurisdiction.
Despite this, watchdog groups like CREW are pushing for the report’s release, asserting that the public has a right to review it, especially given Gaetz’s potential role as attorney general.
