Bayer Leverkusen’s striker, Victor Boniface, has been sidelined due to a thigh injury sustained during international duty with Nigeria.
The club’s coach, Xabi Alonso, confirmed that Boniface will miss several upcoming matches, including the Bundesliga game against Heidenheim and the Champions League fixture against RB Salzburg.
While the exact duration of his absence remains uncertain, Alonso expressed hope for Boniface’s return before the winter break.
This injury is a significant setback for Leverkusen, as Boniface has been instrumental this season, netting six goals in the Bundesliga.
His absence coincides with a challenging period for the team, which has secured only one victory in their last six league matches and currently sits fourth in the standings, nine points behind leaders Bayern Munich.
The team faces a demanding schedule ahead, with eight matches in four weeks, including a German Cup clash against Bayern on December 3.
