On May 5, 2025, a significant protest erupted in Abuja as supporters of social critic Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), demanded his immediate release. VDM was reportedly arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday, May 2.
The arrest has sparked widespread outrage, leading to demonstrations both within Nigeria and internationally. Protesters gathered in front of the EFCC office in Abuja, chanting slogans and displaying placards calling for VDM’s freedom.
