Wayne Rooney, the former Manchester United star and current manager of Plymouth Argyle, has addressed a video circulating online that appears to show him inviting a woman into his Plymouth apartment.
Rooney clarified that the footage, which dates back to last summer, has been misrepresented. He explained that the individuals in the video were a couple who had kindly given him a lift home, and his son was also present in the apartment at the time.
Rooney expressed frustration over the misleading narrative, stating, “It is annoying that at least one online newspaper has chosen to edit the footage to make it appear as though a woman entered the apartment on her own. That is simply not true.”
This incident comes amid challenges in Rooney’s managerial role at Plymouth Argyle, with the team currently at the bottom of the Championship following a series of poor performances.
Despite the circulating video, a club spokesperson confirmed that the footage is not recent, and Rooney’s wife, Coleen, is reportedly unconcerned by the reports.
