Wendy Williams’ assisted living facility, Coterie, has filed a police report accusing her niece, Alex Finnie, of “kidnapping” the former talk show host by taking her out to dinner without proper authorization.
Finnie, a journalist based in Miami, had accompanied Williams from Lenox Hill Hospital back to the facility after a psychological evaluation. They later went to an Italian restaurant, prompting the facility to contact the NYPD, alleging that Finnie had evaded staff protocols.
Reports indicate that Williams, who has been under court-ordered guardianship since 2022, resides on the fifth-floor memory unit of the facility, which requires assistance to access the elevator. An attendant reportedly escorted them to the lobby and assisted them into their Uber. Despite the facility’s claims, Williams expressed shock over the situation, questioning why there was an issue with her going out with her niece.
This incident follows a recent event where Williams was taken to the hospital after allegedly dropping a note from her window pleading for help, highlighting ongoing concerns about her well-being and autonomy.
