The political feud between Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President of Nigeria and the 2023 presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has escalated once again.
Wike fired back at Atiku, saying that Nigerians had rejected him, and urged him to “pack up and go.”
This exchange came after Atiku criticized Wike for his perceived political decisions and alignment with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), despite being a PDP member for most of his career.
Wike, in response, emphasized that Atiku had lost the recent presidential election and was no longer politically relevant in the current Nigerian landscape.
This ongoing rivalry between the two influential political figures has been fueled by disagreements stemming from the 2023 election campaign period, where Wike felt marginalized by the PDP, which eventually picked Atiku as its presidential candidate instead of him.
The tension reflects deeper divisions within the PDP and hints at the power struggles within Nigerian politics as both figures continue to assert their influence.
