On March 13, 2025, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, revoked the land allocation for the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) national secretariat in Abuja. The property, located at Plot No. 243 in the Central Area, Cadastral Zone A00, had been designated for the party’s new national secretariat but remained uncompleted for over 20 years.
The revocation was prompted by the PDP’s failure to pay annual ground rents on the property from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2025, despite multiple notifications from the FCT Administration. In the revocation notice, signed by the Director of Land Administration, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, it was stated that the party’s non-compliance violated the terms of the Right of Occupancy grant.
This action is part of a broader initiative by the FCT Administration to address non-payment of ground rents, which has led to the revocation of 4,794 land titles, amounting to N6.9 billion in unpaid fees.
As of now, the PDP has not issued an official response regarding the revocation of its national secretariat land.
