Political Rift: Wike Criticizes Odili for Supporting Fubara

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Governor of Rivers State, has publicly criticized his predecessor, Peter Odili, labeling him an “ingrate” and “rent-seeker” for supporting the current Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Wike’s remarks were made during a Special Thanksgiving Service at the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) in Port Harcourt, organized by Martin Amaewhule, the factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. He accused Odili of attempting to convert Rivers State into his personal estate by placing family members in key governmental positions.

Wike also recounted his support for Odili, stating, “I brought him back to life when I took office as governor in 2015,” and criticized Odili’s recent praise of Governor Fubara, suggesting that such endorsements undermine Odili’s credibility.

This public dispute highlights the deepening political rift among prominent figures in Rivers State, raising concerns about the stability and unity within the state’s political landscape.
