Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has revoked the land allocations of several prominent individuals and organizations in Abuja’s Maitama II District.
This action affects 762 plots and includes figures such as former President Muhammadu Buhari, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume.
The revocations were prompted by the non-payment of statutory fees, specifically for Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O). The FCT Administration issued a notice stating that the Rights of Occupancy have been withdrawn due to contraventions of the terms of grant, which obligated titleholders to settle all bills.
In addition to the revocations, the FCT Administration has given a two-week ultimatum to 614 other individuals and organizations to settle outstanding Rights of Occupancy fees or face the risk of losing their plots.
