Hernandez Govan’s Absence in Young Dolph Case Explained

In the ongoing trial for the murder of rapper Young Dolph, the alleged mastermind, Hernandez Govan, was notably absent from the witness stand despite expectations that he would testify.

Govan is accused of orchestrating the $100,000 hit, but only Justin Johnson, one of the gunmen, is currently on trial. Cornelius Smith, the second gunman, confessed earlier in the trial and implicated Johnson as his accomplice.

The prosecution explained that not all potential witnesses, including Govan, are necessary to secure a conviction, citing that Govan has the right to avoid self-incrimination.

Johnson’s defense, however, argued that Govan was left out because his testimony could have harmed the prosecution’s case. Govan and Smith, although not on trial alongside Johnson, have not formally accepted plea deals.
