The trial for the remaining suspects in the murder of Memphis rapper Young Dolph is progressing, following the conviction of Justin Johnson. Johnson was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison in late September 2024.
The two other key suspects, Cornelius Smith and Hernandez Govan, are now awaiting their trials. Govan, who is accused of orchestrating the murder, will return to court on October 9, 2024, while Smith, another alleged gunman, has a hearing scheduled for November 15, 2024. These trials will determine their fates in the tragic killing of the rapper in 2021.
Another individual, Jermarcus Johnson, who is Justin Johnson’s half-brother, has already pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact and is facing a sentence of 6 to 12 years
