Armed bandits recently blocked a major highway in Zamfara State, killing a police officer and abducting several travelers, including an expatriate.
The attack occurred on the Tsafe-Funtua road, where the bandits ambushed travelers, shooting at vehicles and seizing passengers.
Among the abducted were workers from a construction firm, with the expatriate being taken alongside other travelers.
Security forces, including police and military units, responded after nearly two hours to clear the road and restore order.
This incident adds to the growing security concerns in Zamfara, which has been plagued by frequent banditry and kidnappings targeting both locals and expatriates.
