Leicester City Appoints Ruud van Nistelrooy as Manager After His Departure from Man United
Ruud van Nistelrooy has been officially appointed as the manager of Leicester City, just weeks after serving as interim manager at Manchester United.
The 48-year-old Dutchman signed a contract that runs through the 2026-2027 season.
His appointment follows the dismissal of Leicester’s previous manager, Steve Cooper, due to the team’s poor performance in the Premier League.
Van Nistelrooy, a former star player for clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, and PSV Eindhoven, brings significant experience to Leicester.
He has previously managed PSV, where he won the Dutch Cup and the Johan Cruyff Shield, and briefly served as an assistant to Erik ten Hag at Manchester United earlier this year.
Leicester City, currently hovering near the relegation zone, will hope that Van Nistelrooy’s tactical acumen and leadership can improve their fortunes.
His first game in charge will be against West Ham United at King Power Stadium.
