Busta Rhymes Charged with Assault: A Closer Look at the Incident Involving His Assistant’s Phone Usage
Rapper Busta Rhymes, born Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr., has been arrested and charged with assault following an alleged altercation with his assistant, Dashiel Gables.
The incident reportedly occurred on January 10, 2025, at the J Condominium complex in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Rhymes, 52, allegedly became upset with Gables, 50, for using his phone during work hours, leading to a confrontation in which Rhymes purportedly punched Gables multiple times, resulting in swelling of Gables’ left eye.
Following the incident, Rhymes turned himself in to authorities and is now facing multiple assault charges.
His next court appearance is scheduled for February 2, 2025.
Gables has declined to comment on the matter, citing legal advice and concerns over jeopardizing a potential multimillion-dollar settlement.
This is not Rhymes’ first encounter with the law; he has a history of legal issues, including previous assault charges and a DWI.
