Breaking Barriers: Bloody Civilian Announces LGBTQ+ Identity
Nigerian singer and songwriter Bloody Civilian, born Emoseh Khamofu, recently addressed her sexual orientation on social media. On January 25, 2025, she shared bikini photos on X (formerly Twitter), which elicited numerous comments from male admirers. In response to these remarks, she tweeted, “I’m actually a lesbian. Can’t hide it anymore.”
However, shortly after this declaration, Bloody Civilian clarified that she is not a lesbian and that her previous statement was related to a game show promotion. She tweeted, “I’m not a lesbian. I was on a game show. But still hold your woman tight sha. Drops February 7th. See you thereeee.”
This series of posts has sparked discussions about LGBTQ+ representation in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, a topic that remains sensitive due to the country’s conservative cultural and societal norms.
Bloody Civilian, originally from Taraba State, has been gaining recognition in the music scene. She was nominated for a Grammy for her contribution to Bob Marley’s “One Love” album, where she collaborated with Afrobeats star Wizkid.
