Irv Gotti, Rapper and Founder of Murder Inc., Passes Away
Irv Gotti, born Irving Domingo Lorenzo Jr., the influential music producer and co-founder of Murder Inc. Records, has passed away at the age of 54. He died on February 5, 2025, in New York City, reportedly due to complications from multiple strokes.
Gotti was instrumental in shaping the careers of prominent artists such as Ja Rule, Ashanti, and DMX. He co-founded Murder Inc. Records in 1998, producing numerous hits that left a lasting impact on the hip-hop and R&B genres.
In recent years, Gotti faced health challenges, including a minor stroke in early 2024, which he attributed to his long-standing battle with diabetes. Despite these struggles, he continued to influence the music industry until his passing.
Beyond his musical achievements, Gotti ventured into television, creating the BET series “Tales,” further showcasing his storytelling prowess.
He is survived by his three children: Angie, Sonny, and JJ. The music community mourns the loss of a visionary whose contributions have left an indelible mark on the industry.
