Naira Marley and Associates Cleared in Mohbad Case

Court Exonerates Naira Marley, Sam Larry, Primeboy

On February 25, 2025, a Magistrate Court in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos State, acquitted singer Abdulazeez Fashola, known as Naira Marley, along with music promoter Samson Balogun Eletu (Sam Larry) and Owodunni Ibrahim (Primeboy), of any involvement in the death of fellow artist Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje delivered the ruling, citing legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) in Lagos, which stated that the trio had no case to answer regarding Mohbad’s demise.

The court’s decision followed a thorough investigation into Mohbad’s death, during which Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and Primeboy were arrested by the Lagos State Police Command. Despite public protests and widespread speculation linking them to the incident, the DPP’s findings exonerated the three individuals.

While Naira Marley and his associates have been cleared, the court has directed that a nurse, whose identity has not been disclosed, face trial in connection with Mohbad’s death. The nurse is alleged to have administered an injection to the late singer shortly before his passing.

This ruling has elicited mixed reactions from the public, with some expressing relief over the acquittal and others voicing concerns about the thoroughness of the investigation. The case has drawn significant attention due to the high-profile nature of the individuals involved and the tragic circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
