Burna Boy's Warning to Nigerian Artistes on Social Media

Burna Boy: Social Media Fans Won’t Fill Stadiums

Burna Boy, the acclaimed Nigerian musician, has recently shared his perspective on the influence of social media metrics and local streaming numbers on an artist’s global success.

He cautioned fellow artists against placing excessive value on Twitter polls and the support of Nigerian social media users, suggesting that such online engagement does not necessarily translate into tangible real-world support, such as filling stadiums worldwide.

Furthermore, Burna Boy highlighted the financial disparities in streaming revenues, noting that one million streams in Nigeria generate approximately $300 to $400, whereas the same number in regions like the UK, US, or Europe yields between $3,000 to $4,000.

He advised artists to aim for broader international recognition and consider additional business ventures, stating that achieving the number one spot on Nigerian streaming platforms should not be the sole measure of success.
